In Mollywood, Vishu films normally have their share of highlights, mostly being the time of well made flicks.

The eleventh film from ace director Lal Jose - ‘Mulla ‘ cannot perhaps be called a bad film. But neither can it be called a brilliant movie. After such critically appreciated movies  like ‘Arabikkatha’ and ‘Classmates’, one did expect a lot more from the director who gave us path breaking hits, even with lesser stars. [...]

Bits and pieces of investigative drama, that we have seen umpteenth times with the other super star movies, too sleepy paced narratives, Kalabhavan Mani in usual maneuvers, and an outdated presentation style- These could be  the taglines of ‘Kerala Police’ which doesn’t offer anything refreshing in terms of visuals, presentations or narratives..

A fresh team of directors, a new scriptwriter, producers and an young technician crew-every time when we hear about a movie from such a crew, we always  expects much from them. Many of the recent outings from such crews proved banal and stale.

Old wine in old bottle. Tastes sour. Looks dull. Challenges patience. Gopalapuranam is just another movie to be listed for the mere sake of statistics. Nothing else.

Salabham doesn’t belong to any genre. Not even to the genre which challenges the established genres. Perhaps it can be called, rather force-fit into, a “menofilm”, which never shaped up into one category at any circuit.

Whenever we are offered a movie with a sizeable debutant line up in its cast or crew, we become very much enthusiastic to point out what they do to make a movie worth watching. But, of late, at least for a year, we have been witnessing a lot of films from debut hands, made without [...]

Mollywood is notorious for the lack of talented youngsters, who could well be the crowd pullers, playing the lead. But it is also an industry which had always created the best supporting actors to the entire south India. Why do we continue to be with the same destiny, always depending upon our very few aged [...]

This is not just another typical Johny Antony movie with formulaic, unapologetic cartoonish characters running around in fast paced slapstick. ‘Cycle’ is refreshingly new. It’s an incredible U-turn, dear friends.
